ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES A Job Captain at CCY produces comprehensive design and production documents with a strong emphasis on technical project delivery and documentation accuracy. The role involves providing knowledgeable input on a range of project elements, ensuring technical precision, constructability, and adherence to documentation standards. The Job Captain must demonstrate an understanding of the construction process, experience managing detailed construction documents, specifications, and submittals, and supporting quality assurance protocols. They will oversee the production of drawings, details, schedules, and technical reports, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance. The candidate should be adept at coordinating with consultants, reviewing RFIs, and addressing technical challenges during construction—all vital to successful project delivery.
Additionally, the ability to balance strong design sensibility with technical feasibility is essential, including the production of compelling visual presentations, renderings, and graphics that clearly communicate the design intent. Limited client contact is anticipated; effective internal communication is key. The role offers opportunities to expand design and technical leadership and develop mastery in documentation processes.
CCY does not offer remote positions. The position requires candidates collaborate and be present in our design studio in Basalt, Colorado. Team members may work from home one day per week, with the expectation of being physically present in the office during regular business hours the remaining four days.

Specific Responsibilities Include (but Not Limited)
- Lead the creation of accurate, detailed construction documents (elevations, sections, details, schedules) ensuring technical accuracy and design compliance.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to work in a team environment.
- Exceptionally strong design and graphic abilities.
- Work in close collaboration with Project Managers / Project Architects.
- Maintain high standards for quality control, assist with QA/QC reviews, and implement best practices in documentation.
- Create renderings, walkthroughs, and presentation materials to communicate design intent.
- Develop and coordinate technical construction specifications that support project design, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and shop drawings, ensuring clear communication and proper documentation.
- Conduct site visits, construction phase reviews, and RFI responses to confirm adherence to design intent and technical requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, consultants, and contractors to resolve technical, constructability, and coordination issues.
- Manage document production across disciplines, ensuring clarity, completeness, and timely delivery.
- Lead and assure documentation standards and procedures to reduce errors and streamline project delivery.
- Support the integration of details, building codes, and standards into all project phases.
- Sustainability Administration: support sustainability certification efforts from project inception through construction, including documentation, reporting, tracking, and submittal coordination.

- This is an in-person role based at our Basalt, Colorado design studio; remote or hybrid work is not available.
- An NAAB-accredited professional degree in architecture.
- 4-7 years of applied professional work experience.
- An understanding of how to assemble a full set of construction documents.
- Exceptionally strong graphic, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive experience in consultant management, coordination, and technical problem solving.
- Extensive experience in technical construction detailing.
- REVIT literacy is required.
- Fluent in Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suite, and both hand and digital sketching and rendering techniques.
- Working technical knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, fun, fast-paced environment.
