Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic surgical team. In this vital role, you will assist in a variety of surgical procedures across multiple specialties, ensuring a sterile environment and supporting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff. Your expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional patient care during complex surgeries, including trauma, cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic, pediatric, and endoscopic procedures. Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure readiness for procedures.
  • Assist surgeons during surgeries by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with precision and efficiency.
  • Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols throughout all phases of patient care to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
  • Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate to support patient stability during surgery.
  • Collect and document accurate data related to surgical procedures, patient responses, and equipment usage in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or other EMR platforms.
  • Support the sterilization of medical equipment and surgical instruments following hospital policies to uphold safety standards.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care before, during, and after surgery by assisting with positioning, wound care, and post-operative assessments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in trauma centers or hospital settings that handle Level I or Level II trauma cases requiring rapid response and critical care expertise.
  • Assist in specialized surgeries including cardiovascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic (including fracture treatment), pediatrics, endoscopy procedures, and treatment of complex trauma cases.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with medical equipment operation such as suction devices, electrocautery units, endoscopes, and other surgical tools essential for various procedures.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures.
  • Proven experience assisting in Level I or Level II trauma centers with acute trauma care responsibilities.
  • Strong background in hospital medicine with expertise in medical-surgical units and ICU environments including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
  • Skilled in handling cardiovascular surgery assistance as well as orthopedic surgery assistance including fracture management.
  • Proficient in medical equipment sterilization techniques and the operation of advanced surgical instruments.
  • Ability to perform suturing effectively along with other wound closure techniques; experience with treatment of fractures is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for accurate documentation of patient records and surgical data.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices including aseptic technique and healthcare infection control standards.
  • Capable of analyzing clinical data such as vital signs to support patient safety during complex procedures.
  • Experience working within ambulatory surgery centers or hospital settings that require meticulous attention to sterile technique and patient care protocols.
  • Strong communication skills combined with a proactive approach to teamwork in high-pressure environments like emergency medicine or trauma response.
