Position Overview
The Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders to produce precision metal components. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to strict quality and safety standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements
- Measure and inspect parts using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material specifications
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet quality standards
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
- Deburr, clean, and finish machined parts as required
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade certification preferred
- 10 years of experience operating manual machining equipment
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
- Basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing or aerospace environments
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Ability to operate multiple types of manual machines
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/shop setting with exposure to machinery and industrial noise
- Work around moving mechanical parts
- Required use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots
This is a remote position.
Salary : $25 - $30
