About the Role
We're seeking a dependable and skilled Class B Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Los Alamos, NM.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on machining experience, a solid understanding of CNC machining practices, and the ability to produce quality parts while following engineering drawings, work instructions, and established manufacturing procedures.
This is a great opportunity for a machinist who is comfortable performing routine setups and machining operations with limited supervision and is interested in developing more advanced machining, programming, and troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment with limited supervision.
- Manufacture parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and job requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Select and install appropriate tooling and make routine machine adjustments.
- Verify tooling, offsets, and setup information before and during machining operations.
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specified requirements.
- Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Monitor machining operations and identify issues related to tooling, dimensions, surface finish, or machine performance.
- Make routine adjustments to maintain required dimensions and tolerances.
- Complete manufacturing and inspection travelers and other required production documentation accurately.
- Report machining, drawing, tooling, or quality concerns to supervisors or Quality Assurance personnel.
- Follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
- Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Work effectively with senior machinists, supervisors, Quality Assurance, and production personnel.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Machinist or CNC Machinist in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Working knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, and basic tooling selection.
- Understanding of dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T requirements.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Ability to perform routine machine setups and adjustments with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and job-specific requirements.
- Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team.

- Experience with CNC lathes
- Experience with CNC mills
- Experience with multi-axis machining equipment
- Precision machining experience
- Experience in a controlled manufacturing environment where documentation, traceability, inspection, and customer-specific quality requirements are important
What We're Looking For

Compensation
$30–$35 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
