Summary
The Intern Supervisor is responsible for supervision of Ahtna, Inc. interns and implementation of Ahtna, Inc. Internship program, and general supervision of the assigned team. This position is provided through a partnership and with funding from the National Park Service (NPS). Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Ahtna, Inc. policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. It is during the summer season from approximately May through September to support a project involving Ahtna Cultural Center.
The pay rate for this position is $26.00/hour. This position is full-time temporary and is located in Glennallen, AK.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the interns assigned to the Ahtna, Inc. and NPS, in safety, quality control and responsiveness.
- Assists in conducting on-the-job training for interns in a professional manner
- Reports any personnel, quality, or safety problems to Senior Vice President/or Designee
- Ensure that employees receive required supplies to perform their duties.
- Set schedule and plan for intern schedules. i.e. Plan for trips in the field and other sites assigned.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required. Promotes teamwork.
- Ability to be both self-directed/work alone, and be a positive, contributing member of a group
- Promoting public understanding of Ahtna culture, the Ahtna Mission, and the Vision for Ahtna Cultural Center.
- Assist visitors in developing a keener awareness, appreciation and understanding of the Ahtna lands and NPS lands they are visiting
- Answering phone calls, providing visitors with NPS and Ahtna lands maps, and information they will need while visiting the NPS and Ahtna Lands, including regulations and rules.
- Providing guided walks, talks, audiovisual presentations, and programs
- Assist in the planning and implementing of special initiatives, education, and outreach programs
- Ability to learn in a on the job environment and provide a level of professionalism to the public.
- Attentiveness to safety and ability to take training for safety requirements
- Willingness to be in remote areas in camping scenarios such as: Archeology digs, Moose hide Tanning Camp, Migratory Birds Camp, Culture Camps, Museum visits in other towns
- Flexibility of days of the week worked Sunday through Saturday.
- Driving Staff to and from meetings and remote areas.
- Performing other duties as assigned
Supervision
The Intern Supervisor provides leadership and guidance to ensure work performed meets the Ahtna, Inc. standards of performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of two years supervisory experience.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License and proof of current automobile insurance. May be required to travel to local facilities.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ahtna Language and Cultural knowledge
- Ahtna shareholder or descendent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong computer skills, including expertise with MS Office suite
- Associates degree or higher in related field
- Familiarity with company policies and safety guidelines
- CPR/1st Aid certified
- Communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Demands

- Frequent lifting of up to fifty pounds such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.

Work Schedule: 40-hour work week
