What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stroke Coordinator position at AHS - Sherman Medical Center?
JOB SUMMARY: Monitors, plans, implements, and evaluates quality assurance programs, patient satisfaction, the stroke program. Educates ED physicians and staff regarding performance improvement opportunities identified. Collects data required to maintain Primary Stroke Center. Provides direct communication of results/issues related to the stroke program with the Director of Emergency Services. Performs direct patient care, as needed, within the Registered Nurse scope of practice.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid Registered Nurse License State of Texas / Compact License
2. BSN upon hire.
3. CEN preferred, SCRN preferred
4. Current certification in CPR, ACLS, PALS
5. Thorough knowledge of NIHSS and Stroke Patient Nursing principles & the ability to apply them
to ensure quality nursing care to the stroke patient.
6. Excellent verbal and written skills.
7. Behavioral violence prevention certification as required.
