The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic partner to Distribution and Transportation leaders and associates. These roles embed HR strategy into Supply Chain functional areas to directly support operational excellence, workforce effectiveness, and business performance.
The HRBP provides strong, consistent HR leadership by leveraging business acumen, operational insight, analytics, and talent management expertise to build organizational capability, strengthen leadership pipelines, foster a high-performance and inclusive culture, and ensure legal and policy compliance.
The HRBP operates as a trusted advisor and internal consultant to Distribution and Transportation leadership teams, proactively identifying people-related risks and opportunities while driving measurable business results.
Primary Duties
Strategic Business Partnership
• Contribute to and implement the HR Business Partner operating model, ensuring consistent, analytics-driven support.
• Consult on organizational design, workforce planning, role reinvention, and capability building.
• Review key performance indicators and identify associated talent implications.
• Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve performance, engagement, and retention.
• Serve as a proactive internal consultant, identifying organizational risks and recommending solutions aligned with business
strategy.
Talent Forecasting & Acquisition
• Lead strategic workforce planning initiatives aligned to operational demands.
• Forecast short- and long-term talent needs, including succession planning and pipeline development.
• Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Learning teams to implement innovative sourcing strategies and college
partnerships.
• Monitor quality-of-hire, retention, turnover, and diversity metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Performance-Driven Culture & Talent Development
• Drive a performance-driven, values-based culture ensuring associates understand how their roles contribute to overall business outcomes.
• Lead performance management processes, succession planning, Individual Development Plan (IDP) execution, and other Talent Programs.
• Define career pathways and leadership development strategies, with emphasis on diverse talent advancement.
• Support learning strategies that address technical, operational, and leadership capability gaps.
• Promote accountability and embed performance expectations into daily operations.
Associate Engagement, Culture & Belonging
• Analyze engagement data and lead action planning to improve associate experience and strengthen retention.
• Proactively address employee relations matters while balancing associate advocacy and business priorities.
• Navigate ambiguity and support leaders through change using agile methodologies.
HR Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, coach, and develop HR Generalists and Coordinators (as applicable by level).
• Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, union awareness practices, and company policies.
• Build strong relationships with Centers of Excellence (COEs), Total Rewards, HR Services, and Brand leadership.
• Support change management and internal communication strategies during organizational transformation.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (HR, Business Administration, or related field).
• HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred for HRBP II & III.
Experience
• 3-5 years of progressive HR experience across multiple HR disciplines.
Other
• Travel: 10-20%
• This role influences functional areas across the Supply Chain organization and supports implementation of a best-practice HR Business Partner model.
PA/SC/ME/NC Salary Range: $92,640 - $138,960
MA/IL/NY/NJ/CT/RI Salary Range: $106,480 - $159,720
