Overview
The HIM Technician is an experienced HIM clerk who has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a clerk.
Responsibilities
This position affords opportunity for promotion of a clerk who demonstrates competence, high standards of quality and production, along with leadership skills. The HIM Technician demonstrates competence in ALL clerical areas including Emergency Room records, outpatient records, receptionist area, assembly and analysis. Duties also include processing daily patient discharge records, creating patient folders, filing, pulling requested records; following proper out-guide procedures, and performing other clerical tasks as required.
Qualifications
Must have at least 2 years previous medical record clerical experience. Accurate typing at a minimum of 25-35 words per minute. Must be able to file by terminal digit and alphabetical. Must demonstrate good clerical knowledge and abilities, being extremely accurate and good at detailed work. Must be able to perform work activities with minimal direct supervision and be able to direct others. Basic knowledge of medical terminology required.
