What You’ll Do
- Act as the primary HR business partner to mill leadership, providing guidance on employee relations, labor relations, performance management, and workforce planning
- Support labor relations activities, including administration of the collective bargaining agreement, grievance handling, investigations, and preparation for negotiations (with escalation support as needed)
- Lead employee relations matters across hourly and salaried populations, including investigations, corrective action, performance improvement, and separations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Partner with leaders on hiring, onboarding, engagement, development, and succession planning
- Support site-level change initiatives and operational improvements
- Maintain a strong, visible presence on the mill floor
- Leaders view HR as a trusted, practical partner
- Employee issues are addressed fairly, consistently, and promptly
- Labor relationships are stable and constructive
- The workforce feels supported and respected
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- 5 years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of employee relations and employment law
- Ability to work effectively in a hands-on mill environment
- Experience supporting a unionized workforce
- Background in paper, pulp, or heavy manufacturing
