About The Position
AHI Supply is seeking a reliable and safety-minded Steel Shop Machine Operator / Forklift Operator to join our Roanoke team. This role involves operating machinery and forklifts to cut, move, and prepare steel for production while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Our operators typically work around 45 hours per week, with the potential to earn $37,000 annually.
Schedule
Standard work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or until all work is completed. Due to the nature of the role, occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines and business needs. Employees will be notified in advance when additional hours are needed and will be compensated accordingly for all overtime worked.

Responsibilities
- Operate machinery such as an angle shear, punch press, torch, and bandsaw to cut and process steel.
- Load and move various sizes of steel using a forklift and manual positioning.
- Measure and mark materials accurately using a tape measure.
- Band and strap steel materials as needed.
- Complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Perform general warehouse tasks, including sweeping, trash pickup, pallet wrapping, stocking, and cleaning.
- Experience operating a sit-down forklift.
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
- Comfortable bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods (8-10 hours).
- Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn production equipment.
- Team-oriented attitude with solid communication and problem-solving skills.
