Location: Lancaster, Groveton and Whitefield

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hours per week: 20

SUMMARY:

Performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms. This position reports to the Facilities Manager and works closely with the maintenance team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform general, routine, custodial duties to include, but not limited to; dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
  • Perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Empty trash receptacles, dispose of trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bag trash for proper disposal.
  • Responsibly monitor the security of buildings by ensuring entrances and exits are locked after cleaning is complete.
  • Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff. This may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
  • A Custodian working within our resident properties may also be responsible for reporting concerns related to resident behavior.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
  • Perform cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
  • May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to supervisor.
  • May assist or perform snow remediation activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

High school diploma.

Experience:

Prior experience in custodial duties is a plus.

Driver’s License and Reliable Transportation Required:

Yes

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work Schedule: Employees in this position may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to perform maintenance or repair work.

Environment: Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Hazards: Employees in this position personnel may be exposed to hazardous materials or chemicals, and may need to wear protective gear such as gloves, masks, or goggles.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Lifting and Carrying: Employees in this position may be required to lift heavy objects, such as equipment or sanitation materials, up to 50 pounds, pushing, or pulling requiredof objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.

Physical Stamina: Employees in this position need to have good physical stamina to perform their job duties, as the work can be physically demanding and require extended periods of standing or walking. Employees in this position may also need to climb, stoop, and kneel while cleaning.
