Job Title: Teppanyaki Chef
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Teppanyaki Chef to prepare and cook meals at a teppanyaki grill while providing an engaging dining experience for guests. The ideal candidate has strong knife skills, knowledge of food safety practices, and the ability to entertain customers through interactive cooking techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meats, seafood, vegetables, rice, and other menu items on a teppanyaki grill.
- Perform tableside cooking demonstrations and engage guests with professional showmanship.
- Ensure food is prepared according to recipes, portion standards, and quality requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of cooking stations and equipment.
- Monitor food inventory and assist with stock rotation and storage.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure efficient service.
- Handle guest questions, dietary requests, and special accommodations professionally.
- Inspect ingredients for freshness and quality.
- Assist with opening, closing, and daily kitchen preparation duties.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a teppanyaki, hibachi, or line chef preferred.
- Strong knife handling and cooking skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–50 lbs (11–23 kg).
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary school training or equivalent experience.
- Experience performing teppanyaki cooking techniques and guest entertainment.
- Food Handler or Food Safety certification.
