Maintenance Worker

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding a

business or building. Plants flowers, mows, pulls weeds, repairs structures, and maintains

outside of building. Responsible for maintaining a cleanly facility by completing a variety of cleaning tasks.

Performance of all duties in accordance with established safety standards is essential to the job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Agua SUD operational policies, safety rules, and procedures.

• Clean the interior of buildings including floors, carpet, rugs, windows and walls
• Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools and phones
• Maintain cleaning inventory, placing orders for new products when needed
• Perform grounds keeping and building maintenance duties.
• Mow lawn either by hand or using a riding lawnmower.
• Cut lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim and edge around walks, flowerbeds, and walls.
• Landscape by planting grass, shrubs, and bushes, trim shrubs and pull weeds.
• Apply fertilizer to grounds.
• Perform routine maintenance duties such as painting, plastering, and other duties.
• Sweep walkway of debris.
• Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in

grounds keeping.

• Replace air filters
• Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer.

Other Important Duties:

· Assist other departments as needed

· Able to write and print legibly. Fluent in both English and Spanish.

· Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions

· Other duties and Special Projects may be assigned

Required Knowledge and Skills:

· Knowledge of maintenance, repair, and construction methods and practices.

· Knowledge of the District service area and location

· Knowledge of occupational safety and health rules, regulations, practices and procedures.

· Skill in effective oral and written communications.

· Skill in the operation of light/heavy equipment as needed.

· Basic mathematical principles.

· Safe driving principles and practices.

· Modern office practices, procedures and computer equipment.

· Works in outside weather conditions including inclement weather and is occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions, especially extreme heat.

· The employee will often work in slippery conditions and tight work spaces.

· There is also frequent exposure to possible vicious dogs, snakes, and/or biting insects as well as to possibly harmful vegetation such as poison ivy and poison oak.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

General:

· A valid Texas State Driver's License

· Subject of a complete background investigation.

· No more than 2 moving violations in the past 5 years

Education and/or Experience:

· High school diploma or GED.

Attire:

Employee will be issued a uniform by Agua SUD which is required to be maintained in clean condition and worn daily.

Pay: $ $12.00 per hour
