Position Summary
The Lead Protective Services Officer works in the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum’s Operations Department, aiding in implementing policies and procedures created for the safe and secure operation of the new 48,000 square-foot Museum. The position reports to the Manager of Protective Services and is the floor lead for the day-to-day operation of the Museum’s safety, security, and visitor service, reflecting the security program governing the Museum’s operating profile, as well as ensure a safe and secure environment for Tribal Members, visitors, and staff.
Essential Duties
- Acts as floor lead for Museum Operations safety and security for patrons and building; may assist officers and gallery attendants in securing Museum exhibits and facilities; schedules officers to meet day-to-day safety needs as well as for special events; interfaces regularly with Retail and Visitors Services to ensure a positive visitor experience.
- Observes and advises Protective Service officers and their assigned areas and ensures compliance with established policies and procedures and the maintenance of professional standards; monitors and evaluates performance; carries out transition procedures between shifts; assists in incident resolution as needed; provides ongoing employee training.
- May act as on-site safety manager in the absence of the Manager of Protective Services and/or designated personnel in emergency situations.
- Communicates to the Manager of Protective Services regarding maintenance and security conditions using various computer programs.
- Resolves complaints and provides back up support to officers during incidents where supervisory intervention is necessary; responds to staff and Museum patrons' requests for information in a manner consistent with the Museum's standards for customer service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The nature of the work requires some sustained physical effort involving considerable standing and walking for extended periods of time. Incumbents may be required to work any shift, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays; overtime may be assigned as necessary.
Supervision Exercised
The ACCM Protective Services Lead Officer provides supervision, training and scheduling of subordinate staff who provide security and perform other related duties for the Museum.
Qualifications:
Qualification
- Two (2) years of verifiable experience as a museum guard; OR
- Two (2) years of verifiable experience supervising security guards
One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2080 hours. (2080 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

Work Environment:
