What the Role Delivers
The Maintenance Technician performs repair service and preventive maintenance activities to keep site production and operations operating at maximum capacity and efficiency. They are responsible for creating and maintaining accurate maintenance records and a clean organized work area. They are responsible for accurately and consistently following established procedures and for personal safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
In order of relative importance
- Performs scheduled and break down minor and major repairs on buildings, equipment, utilities, and plant systems. Fabricate and assemble new equipment as necessary.
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building, production, and site mechanical and electrical equipment. Maintains up to date records and documentation of PMs.
- Performs and documents inspections according to established schedules.
- Effectively completes routine and non-routine tasks as necessary including limited custodial, building repair, and snow removal work.
- Proper storage and handling of solvents, oils, and hazardous materials.
- Completes, and manages written and computer-based records, including maintenance and operating procedures as directed and scheduled.
- Determines, and orders parts, supplies, and materials from external vendors as necessary.
- Maintains records and documentation to complete up-to-date status including equipment files, engineering drawings, and computer records.
- Other duties as assigned.

What the Job Requires
- Minimum High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with boilers and boiler maintenance.
- Ability to establish root cause analysis
- Ability to both read and understand instructions and communicate information effectively
- Understanding of general mathematics; general computer proficiency
- Safety mindset with Lock Out Tag Out experience
- Skilled use of hand and power tools
- Basic pipe-fitting and electrical/wiring experience
- Forklift operating experience
- Valid license to operate motor vehicle in the State of Washington
What to Have Done and Know How to Do
These skills and experiences are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individuals performance history and demonstrated potential.
- Work Order System/ Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience including documentation of work completed, planning & scheduling, parts usage, time tracking and meter reading
- Welding experience including low carbon, stainless steel and food grade materials
- Advanced electrical and instrumentation wiring, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, configuration and installation
- Plant utility system experience including pressure steam boiler, deaerator, and condensate return systems, air compressors, cooling water, hydraulics, pneumatics refrigeration, reverse osmosis deionization softening water systems, emergency pressure venting, and vacuum systems
- Machining, milling and basic carpentry experience
