What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager — Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CO) position at AGRiP (Association of Governmental Risk Pools)?
The Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CSDSIP) seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee the activities of the Finance Department. The Accounting Manager upholds regulatory accounting standards, ensures the accuracy of financial results, and is responsible for approving numerous and varied journal entries and reconciliations related to CSDSIP’s activities and financial results. This includes, but is not limited to, payroll, investments, non-admitted assets, gross/written premiums and bank reconciliations. Other essential duties include acting as the primary point-of-contact for the Pool’s external auditors, preparation of complex reports involving claims for reinsurance carrier(s), member reporting, and the approval of A/P and A/R entries.
The ideal candidate has experience in overseeing accounting and financial reporting processes for a property and casualty insurance entity or a government entity, the ability to work with large data sets to create and/or validate the accuracy of required reporting, and a mindset of continuous improvement. You must possess a solid working knowledge of debits and credits, reconciliations, working efficiently with less-than-optimal data sets, and the ability to manage processes to ensure a smooth close process. Past working experience working for an insurance entity or using Sage 50 Quantum is a plus.
