Job Summary
The Inventory Specialist supports both Accounting and Operations in maintaining accurate inventory records and production reporting within the strawberry processing environment. This role is responsible for reconciling inventory across the Shippers ERP system, third-party storage providers, and internal accounting records. The position also provides detailed reporting on production activity, labor, yield recovery, cost performance, and sales contract fulfillment. The Inventory Specialist plays a key role in ensuring cost transparency, supporting the quoting process with cost variance analysis, and enabling data-driven decision-making across departments.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management & Reconciliation
- Reconcile inventory balances across Shippers ERP, internal records, and third-party cold storage facilities.
Production, Labor & Recovery Reporting
- Prepare and distribute daily production reports by SKU, including:
- Units produced and packed
- Inventory shipped
- Inventory placed on hold (e.g., QA, regulatory)
- Report on labor usage and efficiency by production batch and SKU.
- Track and analyze yield recovery against planned input-to-output ratios (e.g., raw fruit to finished product).
- Highlight areas of variance and work with operations to identify root causes and process improvements.
Costing & Variance Analysis
- Maintain and update standard cost models for raw materials, packaging, labor, and overhead.
- Analyze actual vs. standard cost variances by SKU, lot, and production run.
- Support sales and quoting processes by providing accurate, timely insights into product cost performance and margin trends.
- Collaborate with Sales and Accounting to update pricing strategies based on actual cost behavior.
ERP & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the company’s point of contact for Shippers ERP inventory and production modules.
- Partner with Operations, Sales, and Accounting to ensure data consistency and visibility across functions.
- Support audits, month-end close, and regulatory reporting with accurate records and reconciliations.
Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Agribusiness, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred).
- 5 years of experience in inventory or cost accounting in food processing or agriculture.
- Experience with Shippers ERP or similar produce/agriculture-focused ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and variance modeling.
- Familiarity with cost accounting principles, BOMs, and labor allocation.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly with production and accounting staff.
- Overachieving attitude and enhanced work ethic
Pay: $71,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
