Shipping and Receiving Lead (Full Time)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Posts purchase orders and transfers once receiving count and tagging are complete.
Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of incoming, outgoing or Company transfer shipments.
Determines routing and legal load limits of outgoing shipments, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel for repair.
Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
Compiles records of unfilled orders. Posts weight and shipping charges. Prepares bills of lading.
Issues written and oral instructions.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates, retraining others, as necessary.

Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
Adjusts errors and complaints, to include all UPS shipping, motor freight, customer order and all store to store shipping errors.
Maintains work area in neat, clean and organized fashion.
Checks and replies to daily e-mails for this department.
Interacts with mail order customers over the phone on occasions.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
Directly supervises 2-6 employees in the Shipping & Receiving Department.
Train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Keep store management in the know about employee relations and inner workings of the S&R Department.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
1-2 years related experience and/or training.
Ability to understand written and spoken instructions
