Parts Department Assistant

Position Overview

We are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual to join our Parts Department as a full-time Parts Department Assistant.

We are an irrigation company specializing in irrigation and plumbing solutions. Our business covers many different products, services, and areas of expertise, providing employees with the opportunity to learn about many different aspects of the industry.

This is a hands-on position that involves both physical labor and customer service. The position will work throughout the parts department, warehouse, and yard, helping keep everything organized, stocked, and running efficiently.

The right person will be willing to learn, able to work independently, and willing to help wherever needed. There is room to grow within the Parts Department as the individual gains experience, develops product knowledge, and takes on additional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Organize, label, and maintain parts throughout the warehouse and yard.
• Pull parts for jobs, work orders, and customers.
• Receive, unload, label, and put away incoming freight.
• Operate a forklift to unload and move freight and materials.
• Assist customers with locating and purchasing parts.
• Use computers and inventory/point-of-sale systems to process customer purchases.
• Help maintain accurate inventory and part locations.
• Keep the parts yard, warehouse, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform general yard maintenance and upkeep.
• Perform snow removal and winter maintenance as needed.
• Assist other members of the Parts Department with daily tasks and projects.
• Take on additional responsibilities as experience and knowledge of the department grow.

Qualifications

• Dependable and willing to work.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors.
• Able to perform physical labor and lift/move parts and materials.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory software.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Forklift experience is preferred but not required; training may be available.
• Willingness to learn the irrigation, plumbing, and parts business.
• Willingness to take on new responsibilities as knowledge and experience grow.

Physical Requirements

This position can be labor-intensive and requires the ability to:

• Lift and move parts and materials.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Operate a forklift and other equipment as needed.
• Perform general yard maintenance and snow removal.
• Safely handle and organize parts and materials.

Position

Full-Time

This position offers a mix of warehouse and yard work, physical labor, customer service, computer work, and inventory responsibilities. The successful candidate will be someone who is willing to jump in, learn, and help with all aspects of the Parts Department.

Pay will be based on the individual's previous work experience, irrigation experience, and overall qualifications.
