Position Summary
The Daycare Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the facility is safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained for children, staff, and families. This role plays a critical part in supporting a safe and nurturing learning environment by performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and preventative upkeep of the building and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting)
- Ensure classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas are safe and in compliance with childcare regulations
- Conduct regular safety checks and report hazards promptly
- Maintain outdoor areas, including playground equipment and walkways
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed
- Assist with room setups, furniture moves, and seasonal projects
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
- Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning materials and tools
- Support cleanliness standards alongside custodial staff when needed
Qualifications
- Prior maintenance, facilities or handyman experience preferred
- Knowledge of basic building systems and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Comfortable working in an active childcare environment
- Physically able to lift up to 50lbs and perform hands-on tasks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Requirements
- Background check and fingerprint clearance (required for daycare employment)
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
Work Environment
- Active, child-focused environment with frequent interaction around children
- Indoor and outdoor work required
