How You’ll Make a Difference
The Agrace Cook I is responsible for ensuring high-quality meals appropriate to each customer’s needs. With focuses on quality, communication, and service excellence, the Cook I is responsible for kitchen operations and environmental safety in the Agrace kitchens.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations
- Prepare and deliver appetizing patient meals appropriate to patient diet type and/or customer request.
- Ensure consistency and quality of all kitchen products and meals by using established workflows/systems, tasting food, presenting the food properly, and following Agrace recipes.
- Complete tasks within the required timelines and collaborates shift-to-shift.
- Request orders of kitchen food and supplies in accordance with the established ordering schedule.
- Stock and rotate food and supplies in the kitchen, nutrition centers, vending areas, and storage areas.
- Assist throughout the kitchen and café as required to meet production requirements.
Environmental Safety
- Follow all internal and external policies and procedures regarding safely preparing, packaging, storing, and serving food.
- Ensure the work area is kept clean, safe, and stocked appropriately for use at all times.\
Quality and Service Excellence
- Work with Inpatient Unit staff to ensure patient and family satisfaction.
- Collaborate directly with patients as appropriate to tailor meal services to meet specific needs.
- Promptly report patient and family concerns to Executive Chef.
Other Duties
- Participate in internal work groups, meetings and committees relative to position responsibilities.
- Lead and train kitchen volunteers.
You Bring (Qualifications)
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare food services setting, preferred
- Beginning Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
- Experience using industry specific software
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to be flexible in time and task to meet organizational needs
- Ability to maintain confidentiality about patients, families, caregivers, staff, donors, and organizational intellectual property.
- Ability to use proper body mechanics and standard precautions
