Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our dynamic dental office. This role combines clinical support with front desk responsibilities, ensuring smooth daily operations and outstanding patient service. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical administrative skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and excellent communication abilities to enhance patient experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist dental practitioners during patient examinations and procedures, including preparing treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments.
- Manage patient intake, appointment scheduling, and follow-up appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing processes utilizing systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth.
- Maintain accurate and organized dental records and medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide exceptional front desk support by answering multi-line phone systems, greeting patients warmly, and managing patient inquiries with professional phone etiquette.
- Conduct medical coding using CPT codes, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and perform documentation review for accurate billing and care plans.
- Assist with medical collection efforts and ensure timely processing of payments while supporting medical office management tasks.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office, typing (10 key), and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks or Carestream.
- Uphold confidentiality standards related to health information management and ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical billing practices.
- Experience with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is advantageous; familiarity with hospital or healthcare settings is a plus.
- Strong clerical skills including filing, data entry, and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Proven ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently while providing excellent patient service in a fast-paced environment.
