We are looking for a passionate and impact-focused person who is interested in joining an innovative and collaborative group focused on partnering with patients to bring about meaningful change. Our team is committed to excellence and ensuring that the patient voice is captured throughout the drug development process and building trust with the patient communities we serve.

This position will report to the Director of Patient Advocacy and focus on supporting the team in building Agios’ profile in hemolytic anemias, such as thalassemia, sickle cell disease and pyruvate kinase deficiency.

What you will do:

  • Provide operational and project management support to the US patient advocacy team, ensuring smooth day-to-day coordination across priorities, stakeholders, and deliverables.
  • Lead planning and execution for multiple patient advocacy activities, including patient advisory boards, patient advocacy publications, podcasts, outreach events, and conference activities; this may include coordination with Agios Compliance as well as vendor management.
  • Coordinate with corporate communications to support internal and external communications around disease awareness days/months, social media activities, and other patient-oriented events.
  • Manage the execution of Agios’ patient advocacy conference plans for PK deficiency, thalassemia, and sickle cell disease; participate in cross-functional planning meetings; obtain compliance approval for related materials; and attend virtual and in-person conferences, when needed.
  • Develop and maintain a master calendar of critical patient advocacy conferences, identifying participation opportunities and liaising with internal team members to secure appropriate cross-functional representation.
  • Support management of patient speakers at internal events to help colleagues understand the patient journey and impact of the diseases we research.
  • Support relationship management requirements by ensuring timely communication on projects and sponsorships with external stakeholders, including patient organizations, advocacy groups, and vendors.
  • Oversee internal processes that enable efficient and compliant conduct of patient advocacy and engagement activities; manage, monitor, and track documentation stored on the patient advocacy team’s SharePoint site to ensure all compliance requirements are met.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ways of working, streamline workflows, and drive efficiencies across patient advocacy operations.
  • Use Agios’ approved AI tools appropriately to support planning, organization, document development, and process efficiency, in line with company policy and compliance requirements.
  • Provide operational support to the field team where needed, helping to coordinate shared activities and ensure alignment across patient advocacy efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Patient Advocacy to drive agenda topics for team meetings, document action items, and follow through on outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Patient Advocacy to support budget management and vendor management.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience, including 3 years in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Established project management and business operations skills, with a strong track record of supporting multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and with external partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and strengthen ways of working.
  • Comfortable using approved AI tools to support organization, drafting, planning and operational efficiency, in line with company policy and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience managing documentation, systems and workflows, ideally including SharePoint, databases or portals.
  • Familiarity with Veeva and VisionTracker is a plus.
  • Positive, adaptable and empathetic working style, with the ability to act with urgency in a complex environment.
  • Experience supporting patient advocacy, patient engagement or similar stakeholder-facing work is desirable, but not essential.
