Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to ensure health stability.
- Support medication administration following proper protocols and documentation in Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being, especially for clients with memory care needs or living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and ensuring a safe home environment.
- Document medical records accurately and communicate effectively with healthcare teams regarding patient progress or concerns.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care or hospice-related tasks under supervision when necessary.
Requirements
- Proven experience in home health care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and caregiving best practices for dementia, Alzheimer’s care, hospice support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or catheter care are preferred.
- Ability to operate EMR/EHR systems efficiently for documentation purposes while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Experience working with patients who have complex needs including memory care or mobility challenges; familiarity with Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices is advantageous.
- Excellent patient observation skills to monitor health status and identify potential issues promptly.
