Position OverviewWe are seeking a Systems Engineer to support a mission-critical Department of the Air Force program focused on enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, and core network services supporting global Air Force operations. This role supports modernization, sustainment, and integration of enterprise IT systems that deliver secure connectivity, authentication, storage, virtualization, messaging, and collaboration capabilities across the Air Force network.The Systems Engineer will apply systems engineering principles across the full lifecycle, supporting acquisition, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise infrastructure solutions. The position requires a strong understanding of complex distributed systems, digital engineering practices, and systems integration in secure government environments.The ideal candidate will combine technical engineering expertise, analytical problem solving, and systems-level thinking to evaluate program architectures, improve engineering processes, and ensure system performance meets mission requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesSystems Engineering & Technical AnalysisApply systems engineering methodologies to support acquisition, integration, sustainment, and modernization of enterprise IT infrastructure systems.Conduct technical reviews of program portfolios, recommending improvements to engineering processes, architectures, and system baselines.Evaluate alternative technical approaches and provide recommendations based on performance, cost, and lifecycle considerations.Support the development and sustainment of system technical baselines, architecture artifacts, and engineering documentation.Engineering Reviews & Program SupportParticipate in program and design reviews, assessing system architectures, engineering approaches, and test results to ensure compliance with program requirements.Analyze subsystem and system performance to confirm alignment with approved specifications.Provide engineering expertise to support technical decision making, risk management, and program planning activities.Systems Integration, Testing, and ValidationDevelop and execute system-level validation and verification strategies, including defining criteria, procedures, and performance metrics.Design and support integration and system testing activities to ensure subsystem interoperability and overall system performance.Analyze results of major engineering systems and recommend corrective actions where necessary.Technical Documentation & CommunicationDevelop and maintain technical documentation, system specifications, and engineering reports.Prepare briefings, presentations, and engineering assessments to communicate technical findings to leadership and program stakeholders.Support technical planning and corrective actions using engineering economic analysis and data-driven decision making.Risk Management & Engineering GovernanceProvide engineering inputs to program and project risk management activities.Support compliance with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes and engineering best practices.Identify engineering risks, gaps, and dependencies impacting program execution.Advanced Engineering & Architecture AnalysisConduct trade studies and technical analyses, including:Trade space analysisCost vs. capability analysisMulti-Objective Decision AnalysisScience & Technology roadmap assessmentsSupport concept development using set-based design methodologies.Digital Engineering ImplementationApply Digital Engineering practices across the system lifecycle, including:Digital ThreadDigital TwinModel-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)Support data-driven engineering approaches that improve lifecycle management, traceability, and technical decision making.Program Mission ContextThis role supports a Department of the Air Force enterprise program responsible for secure core infrastructure services across global Air Force networks. The program provides standardized infrastructure and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology solutions enabling enterprise capabilities such as:Directory and authentication servicesVirtualization and storage platformsBoundary and infrastructure protectionMessaging and collaboration systemsSecure connectivity across enterprise networksThe program focuses on modernizing infrastructure, sustaining enterprise capabilities, and integrating new technologies across Air Force network environments, ensuring mission readiness and secure operations for installations worldwide.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldExperience applying systems engineering principles across the system lifecycleExperience supporting DoD or large enterprise IT systemsStrong analytical and technical documentation skillsExperience participating in technical reviews, architecture evaluations, or engineering assessmentsAbility to analyze complex systems and provide data-driven recommendationsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting Department of Defense or Air Force programsFamiliarity with enterprise IT infrastructure, virtualization platforms, and large-scale network environmentsExperience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) toolsKnowledge of Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, or Digital Twin conceptsFamiliarity with SEAM or other DoD engineering governance frameworksExperience conducting engineering trade studies or cost/capability analysesDesired SkillsSystems integration and architecture evaluationEnterprise infrastructure engineeringTechnical risk analysis and mitigationEngineering lifecycle managementData-driven technical decision makingStrong communication and stakeholder engagementCompany DescriptionAgile Edge Defense is a mission-focused defense technology firm committed to delivering innovative, data-driven solutions that support critical national security and infrastructure priorities. Salary : $80,000 - $125,000
