Aggregate Mineral Resource Group, LLC (AMRG) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support our Iron Ore and Precious Metals Division. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our iron ore extraction, rare earth element recovery, aggregate testing, and gold processing operations.
The Laboratory Technician will perform critical sampling, preparation, and analysis of mineral and ore materials, providing timely and precise data that guides production decisions. Testing will focus on iron ore grade, rare earth and precious metal content, and flotation recovery efficiency. This position requires hands-on experience in mineral laboratories, mining operations, or aggregate processing facilities.
The ideal candidate will bring practical mining laboratory experience, strong technical knowledge of froth flotation, mineral assays, and aggregate gradation testing, as well as the ability to handle heavy samples and operate specialized lab equipment. This is not a biotech or pharmaceutical laboratory role; experience in mineral processing, mining, or related heavy industry laboratories is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Sample Collection & Preparation
· Collect ore, concentrate, and tailings samples from mine sites and processing plants.
· Prepare samples through crushing, splitting, grinding, and sieving to ensure uniform and representative analysis.
· Safely handle and transport large/heavy samples (50–60 lbs) in compliance with safety standards.
Material Testing & Analysis
· Perform ore grade analysis for iron, gold, and rare earth elements using wet chemistry, fire assay, and instrumental methods.
· Conduct froth flotation testing to evaluate reagent performance, recovery efficiency, and concentrate quality.
· Execute aggregate gradation and physical property tests to meet plant specifications.
· Measure moisture content, density, and mineral composition for operational reporting.
· Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, including spectrometers, flotation cells, sieves, scales, and moisture analyzers.
Data Management & Reporting
· Record, analyze, and report test results with precision and accuracy.
· Generate daily and weekly laboratory reports for mine operations and plant management.
· Identify anomalies, deviations, or efficiency gaps in test data, collaborating with operations teams to drive improvements.
Process Support & Collaboration
· Work with metallurgists, mineralogists, and plant operators to align lab results with production goals.
· Provide insights to improve recovery rates, flotation efficiency, and ore quality.
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to mineral recovery and tailings management.
Safety & Compliance
· Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
· Follow all MSHA, OSHA, and environmental regulations regarding laboratory operations, sample handling, and waste disposal.
· Actively participate in safety training and reporting.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills
Required:
· Associate’s degree in Geology, Mining Technology, Metallurgy, or related field; Bachelor’s in Chemistry/Geology/Metallurgy preferred. Equivalent mining lab experience considered.
· Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience in mining, aggregate processing, or mineral recovery industries.
· Strong understanding of mineral sampling, ore testing, and flotation methodologies.
· Ability to operate and maintain mining laboratory equipment, including flotation test units.
· Competence in technical reporting, data documentation, and communication with operations staff.
· Physically capable of handling heavy samples and working in industrial environments.
Preferred:
· Experience with froth flotation, tailings analysis, and iron ore beneficiation.
· Background in precious metals assay, rare earth testing, or aggregate plant operations.
· MSHA Part 48 certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
· Regular standing, walking, bending, and heavy sample handling (up to 60 lbs).
· Exposure to dust, vibration, heat, noise, and industrial plant environments.
· Use of PPE required: gloves, respirators, safety goggles, helmets, and steel-toed boots.
