We need an outstanding Flooring Designer that loves home design, construction estimating and sales. Experience in this field is highly preferred but if you have similar experience and feel you can learn quickly we should talk. It does help if you are energetic and you enjoy talking and working with people. An interest in home building, construction, color coordination and home design is necessary. This is a Long-term Career Opportunity more than short term job and we love to train enthusiastic people who want to grow with our team.

This is ultimately a full commission position with high income potential. In the beginning we do pay on an hourly basis to get started. We do provide extensive training.

About the position:

Designers provide seamless start to finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty with the customers we serve. Designers are responsible for meeting with customers, listening to their project needs, educating them on all that is required for their project, and building a creative design concept that incorporates the customers personal style, lifestyle, and budget. Designers take measurements in home and build detailed quotes for the customer. The position requires an individual to interact with customers and assist them in making product choices according to their individual needs. Whether the interaction occurs in our award-winning showroom, in the customer’s home, or in the community, the objective is always to provide both design and flooring advice that will make the customers buying decision easier. Therefore, the ideal candidate must be willing to divide his or her work time between the showroom floor, visiting customers’ homes, prospecting for new clients, and networking within the community. In order to be successful the candidates must also be willing to undergo our extensive product and sales training in order to become a certified flooring and design expert.

The salary range mentioned is lower than is possible and actually done. Initially we do pay a competitive hourly rate and then transition to commission. There is the real ability to make a very nice income and much higher than hourly rate mentioned in this add.

The work hours are usually 9 am - 6 pm M-F and 10 am - 5 pm Saturdays. Candidates must be willing to work 3 Saturdays per month. We offer half day off during the week when scheduled for Saturday.

Essential Functions

Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with residential and professional customers in the industry.

Greet store customers in a helpful manner and supports store design walk-in needs

Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, while developing clientele through networking and referrals, as well as leads generated within the store

Providing tile, wood, vinyl, stone and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects.

Design, measure, layout and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions.

Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees

Working Conditions

Limited local travel is required by car

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to construction jobsite conditions as well as a warehouse environment with moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Medium Work - Ability to expect 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The employee is often required to use their hands and fingers, to carry, handle or feel product samples. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 56 per week
