Principal Hardware Engineer

Location : Bengaluru


Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Hardware Engineer with expertise in schematic development, PCB design, embedded hardware development, and end-to-end product engineering. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in developing electronics hardware from requirements to production, along with exposure to IoT, industrial automation, or agriculture automation domains. The candidate will also lead and mentor the hardware engineering team.


Key Responsibilities

PCB Design & Development

  • Design PCBs from scratch based on functional requirements, including schematics, layout, BOM creation, and Gerber generation.
  • Work with PCB design tools such as KiCad, OrCAD, or Eagle.
  • Execute multi-layer PCB designs, including differential pair routing, impedance matching, and EMI/EMC-aware design.
  • Perform board bring-up including PCB fabrication coordination, component procurement, assembly support, and testing.
  • Ensure hardware designs meet quality, manufacturability, and reliability standards.

Hardware Engineering & Prototyping

  • Develop circuits and PCB boards end-to-end—from requirement gathering, design, prototyping, testing, to production release.
  • Work with embedded controllers/platforms such as ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, Nvidia Jetson/Xavier, and ATmega MCUs.
  • Implement and validate hardware interfaces like ADC circuits, sensor interfaces, communication converters, multiplexers, voltage regulators, and DC-DC converters.
  • Perform functional testing and debugging using tools like DMM, DSO, Frequency Generator, and Regulated Power Supply (RPS).

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor the hardware engineering team, providing technical guidance and reviewing designs.
  • Work closely with firmware engineers, mechanical design teams, and product engineering teams to address cross-domain requirements.
  • Support integration of electronics into system enclosures and mechanical assemblies.

Vendor & Supply Chain Coordination

  • Manage PCB vendors, fabrication houses, and component suppliers such as Digi-Key, Mouser, Alibaba, and others.
  • Handle import/export processes for electronic components and devices.
  • Optimize BOM and procurement strategy for cost-effectiveness and timely delivery.

Sensors & Communication

  • Work with various digital and analog sensors such as cameras, thermal sensors, temperature sensors, environmental sensors, and water monitoring sensors.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot communication protocols including UART, USB, I2C, RS232, RS485, Modbus, etc.


Preferred Experience

  • Background in IoT, Industrial Automation, or Agricultural Automation product development.
  • Experience in full hardware lifecycle management—from prototype to production deployment.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related fields.
  • 7 years of hands-on experience in hardware/PCB engineering.
