ACTS is growing! We are seeking compassionate, driven individuals to join us in making a lasting impact through meaningful work during the Summer 2026 Internship Program!
Location: The internship program will perform duties at our client service-oriented program at a secured facility, juvenile assessment center.
What You'll be Doing?
Working under supervision of the assigned field instructor or designee, interns:
Conduct and document a face-to-face interview with the referred youth including required information, accurately score and complete the Detention Risk Assessment Instrument, Suicide Risk Assessment Instrument, and Positive Achievement Change Tool (PACT) on 100% of the juveniles referred to the JAC. Initiate an immediate referral for further evaluation when necessary.
Conduct and document an interview containing required information with the parent/guardian and/or document diligent attempts to conduct the interview.
Conduct and document an interview with the victim/complainant, arresting law enforcement officer, Juvenile Probation Officer (JPO) and collateral sources such as school officials, employers, prior service providers and gang unit officer, as appropriate.
Make referrals to community resources, including social, legal and educational providers.
Attend scheduled interdisciplinary treatment team meeting or clinical supervisory sessions and discusses aspects of client's care and progress (or lack of same); may participate in other meetings/events as assigned.
Report crisis situations and treatment needs of clients to clinical personnel and supervisor; recognize client's comprehensive needs and discusses with interdisciplinary treatment team.
What is Required?
Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program in social work, counseling, psychology or other human services field and working under a formal learning contract or similar agreement with a university.
Eligibility status, as determined by Level 2 background screening in accordance with Florida Statutes, Chapter 435 and/or Local Law.
