Role Description Agenacare is open 7 days a week from 8A-8P. Our last patient is taken at 7:45PM to help you finish your work by 8P. Work #3-12 hour shifts a week and enjoy your 4 days off. No call! The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive urgent care services to patients of diverse backgrounds in an on-site clinical setting in Rocky Mount and Salem VA. This full-time role includes performing patient assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosing and treating common acute conditions, and prescribing medications in accordance with best practices and regulatory standards. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with physicians and other clinical staff, provide patient education, and ensure clear documentation in the electronic health record. Daily responsibilities also include coordinating follow-up care, supporting safe workflows, and contributing to a positive, respectful environment for patients and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, including history-taking, physical examination, and interpretation of X-ray and ultrasound reports.
- Proficiency in urgent care and primary care management, including minor procedures, wound care, and treatment of common acute illnesses and injuries.
- Strong patient communication and education skills, with the ability to explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions clearly and compassionately.
- Experience using electronic health records and maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff.
- Current Nurse Practitioner license and certification in Virginia, with prescriptive authority as required by state regulations.
- Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or family practice is strongly preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications or willingness to obtain them within a specified timeframe.
