Job Title: Legal Assistant – Social Security Disability
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and highly organized Legal Assistant to support our attorneys in a fast-paced law firm focused on Social Security Disability (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claims. This is an entry-level position ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in the legal field. Training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Case Management
- Assist with client calls and gather basic case information.
- Request and track medical records and other required documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files within the firm’s case management system.
Document Preparation
- Draft simple correspondence and forms.
- File appeals under guidance from attorneys
Hearing & Filing Support
- Help assemble medical evidence and prepare for submission.
- Upload documents to the Social Security Administration’s Electronic Records Express (ERE) under guidance.
- Track deadlines, appeals windows, and hearing schedules to ensure compliance with SSA requirements.
Administrative Tasks
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage calendars.
- Maintain organized digital and physical client files.
- Electronically scan and process incoming mail.
- Perform general clerical duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Basic computer literacy: proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.
- Prior office or customer service experience preferred.
