What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian/Maintenance Worker position at AGED Trust?
We are looking for the right person to join our busy, but friendly, nonprofit! The Custodian / Maintenance Worker is responsible for making sure our office looks its best for our visitors and employees, both inside and out. This includes cleaning windows, blowing off walkways and parking spots, assisting with outside maintenance, cleaning conference rooms and event rooms, restocking breakroom and bathroom supplies, and more. This position requires a detail-oriented person who takes pride in clean, organized spaces, who is a good communicator, and who has experience cleaning and maintaining office buildings. Must be able to work independently and manage time efficiently. We are a pet friendly office with multiple dogs in the office day.
This is a part-time, two day a week position. The employee may also be requested to come in after-hours, on weekends, or at other times for special events or as requested.
Requirements:Responsibilities & Duties - include, but are not limited to:
- Performs general, routine custodial duties including mopping, dusting, vacuuming, spot cleaning restrooms, including restocking supplies
- Clean and maintain conference rooms, event rooms, and break rooms (dusting surfaces, vacuuming / cleaning floors, removing trash, wiping down and resetting furniture, wiping down appliances inside and out, discarding expired food, restock supplies)
- Empty trash receptacles, bags trash for proper disposal, and disposes trash into dumpster
- Dust baseboards, windows, and interior surfaces
- Disinfect high-touch areas (doors, handles, shared equipment)
- Respond to emergency housekeeping accidents
- Clean floors, common walkways, and other community areas
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment like buffers and floor polishers safely and effectively
- Vacuum and sweep mechanical rooms
- Clean exterior windows and ledges
- Assist with facility maintenance, which may include using a leaf blower to keep sidewalks and parking areas tidy, sprinkler repair, painting, plumbing, and more
- Report any concerns of building or structural wear and/or equipment wear, defects, or malfunctioning
- Other cleaning and/or facility maintenance duties as requested
Requirements
- Ability to perform physical work as is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
- Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
- Ability to use hand and power tools acceptable to trade
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects of up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Ability to commute to work reliably and consistently
- Minimum 1 year of office cleaning experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year facilities maintenance experience preferred
- Must be pet friendly! We have multiple dogs in the office daily.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position works in a professional, pet-friendly office setting with shared spaces and high-traffic common areas.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an hourly part-time position working 2 days per week (approximately 16 hours per week). Typical hours are 9 am to 5 pm, but the employee may be requested to come in after hours, on weekends, or at other times for special events or as requested.

Education & Other Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of office cleaning experience preferred
- At least 1 year of facilities maintenance experience preferred
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug test
