Project Manager - Texas Central Region, San Antonio
Commercial Vertical Construction Project Management
The Role:
AG|CM is seeking a detail-driven, construction-savvy Project Manager who excels at leading complex projects, building trust with clients, and driving results from preconstruction through close-out. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in fast-moving environments, communicates with confidence, and understands the realities of delivering construction projects in K-12, higher education, municipal, healthcare, and commercial sectors.
What Makes Us Different:
- Owner's Representative Focus: We advocate solely for the client, ensuring quality, cost, schedule, and scope are protected at every stage.
- Diverse Project Portfolio: From small renovations to multi-facility programs, each project offers new challenges and learning opportunities.

- Culture of Grit & Integrity: We value a CAN-DO attitude, resourcefulness, and professionalism. We show up for our clients, our team, and each other.
What You'll Do:
- Manager, coordinate, and oversee construction projects, from conceptual planning through occupancy, ensuring budget, schedule, and quality alignment.
- Serve as a key member of the Project Delivery Team (PDT), collaborating with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Review design documents, drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders to protect the client's interests.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract obligations.
- Facilitate project meetings, coordinate field visits, and maintain positive relationships with project stakeholders.
- Identify risks early, recommend mitigation strategies, and actively monitor critical milestones.
- Provides regular reporting on progress, scheduling, contractor billing and overall project performance.
- Assist with commissioning, closeout activities, punch-list resolution, and final turnover to the client's operations team.
Minimum Requirements:
- 4 years of progressive construction project management experience across multiple phases of design and construction.
- Experience working with or overseeing contractors on behalf of owners or public entities.
- Strong professional communication skills, written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, drawings, specifications, and scheduling documents.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Teams, Share Point, and project management software such as Procore or scheduling tools.
- Valid Texas driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a background check.
What Really Matters to Us:
- Client-service Mindset: You take ownership, solve problems quickly, and communicate proactively.
- Construction Judgement: You understand how projects actually get built, not just how they look on paper.
- Business Sense: You recognize how decisions impact cost, schedule, risk, and overall project success.
- Ability: You can shift between jobsite needs, client meetings, and documentation seamlessly.
- Team Collaboration: You work well with designers, contractors, owners, and AG|CM colleagues.
Ideal Background Examples:
- Former Construction Manager or Assistant Project Manager ready to lead larger, more complex projects.
- Professionals with experience supporting K-12, higher education, municipal, healthcare, or public-sector commercial vertical construction.
- Industry changers from engineering, estimating, field supervision, or facilities roles who bring practical insight.
- Individuals with commissioning, quality assurance, or owner-side coordination experience.
- Career changer with relevant experience that fits with the AEC industry.
- Military veteran who has building and/or program management experience.
