Japanese-English Interpreter/Translator

Position Summary

The Japanese Translator/Interpreter serves as a communication liaison between Japanese and English-speaking employees, coordinators, managers, and departments. This role provides accurate interpretation and translation services to support daily operations, maintain effective communication, and facilitate collaboration across the organization. Positions may be assigned to Production or Maintenance operations based on business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide Japanese-English interpretation during meetings, conference calls, training sessions, plant tours, and daily business activities.
• Translate documents, reports, presentations, procedures, and correspondence accurately and professionally.
• Support communication between Japanese coordinators, management, and team members to ensure effective collaboration and understanding.
• Prepare reports, gather information, and summarize data as requested.
• Draft and maintain business correspondence in both Japanese and English.
• Maintain confidentiality of company information, records, and sensitive business matters.
• Support Production and/or Maintenance department activities through dedicated interpretation and translation services.
• Assist with special projects and administrative tasks as assigned.
• Follow all company safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Fluent in both Japanese and English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of attention to detail and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous professional translation or interpretation experience preferred.

Education and Experience

• Associate degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional translation, interpretation, administrative, or related experience preferred.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong document preparation, editing, and report-writing skills.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment and may require regular interaction with production and maintenance teams.
• Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, including hot conditions.
• Must be able to safely work in and around manufacturing equipment while following all company safety requirements.
