Interior DesignerHybrid – Orange County, CAAgathus Studios is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Interior Designer to support our design team across ongoing residential projects, sourcing, documentation, and studio operations.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced design environment and is eager to grow within a boutique, high-end studio. We’re looking for a team member who is:Proactive, resourceful, and solutions-orientedExtremely organized, with strong follow-through and attention to detailPositive and steady under pressure, able to adapt to shifting prioritiesSelf-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of projects from concept to executionA critical thinker who anticipates needs and solves problems before they escalateCollaborative, communicative, and genuinely passionate about designWe strongly prefer candidates who live locally or within close proximity to Costa Mesa, CA as this role requires regular in-person collaboration in the studio as well as site visits and vendor meetings throughout Orange County.Key Responsibilities:1. Design & DocumentationSpace planning, concepts, and design developmentCreate and update drawings, plans, elevations, and other documentationHelp prepare presentation decks, mood boards, FF&E packages, and consolidated bid packetsPrepare and refine design deliverables for client meetings and internal reviews2. Project Coordination & LogisticsHelp manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables in collaboration with internal team members and external partnersCoordinate with vendors, showrooms, and trades for quotes, lead times, and appointmentsParticipate in site walks, installations, and punch lists; document site conditions and follow up on action itemsMaintain detailed project notes, specifications, and updates3. Sourcing, Procurement & InventorySource art, antiques, furniture, lighting, fixtures, finishes, and décor in alignment with the design direction and budgetRequest pricing, samples, and product information; maintain organized recordsPrepare proposals, spec sheets, and purchase listsAssist with tracking orders, receiving, condition checks, and inventory management4. Studio, Library & Gallery SupportMaintain and organize the materials, samples, and fabric libraryAssist with styling vignettes, floor sets, and gallery/showroom layouts as neededSupport in keeping studio, project bins, and materials organized and presentation-ready5. Research, Trends & Visual CommunicationConduct research on products, materials, finishes, and design precedentsStay up to date on industry trends, innovative materials, and emerging brandsCompile information into clear, visually compelling formats for internal and client use6. Cross-Functional SupportCollaborate closely with:PrincipalsDesignersProject ManagersExecutive AssistantOperations & Logistics TeamTrade partners, including vendors, fabricators, and contractorsAssist with occasional content support (styling for shoots, behind-the-scenes documentation, etc.)Take on additional tasks as needed to support the design and studio operationsStrong communication, follow-through, and collaboration are essential.This job description highlights the primary duties of the role but is not an exhaustive list. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on studio needs.Qualifications:RequiredBachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or related field3 years of full-time experience in residential interior designStrong design eye and passion for interiors, architecture, and storytellingProficiency in one or more of: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Studio Designer, CanvaExtremely organized with strong time-management skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneouslyComfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and open to constructive feedbackExcellent written, verbal, and visual communication skillsTech-savvy and able to learn new software platforms quicklyFamiliarity with Microsoft Office and Google WorkspaceActive, regular user of social media platformsMust be authorized to work in the United StatesReliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and vehicle registrationWilling and able to drive to various locations within Orange County and Los Angeles for site visits, vendor and client meetings, etc.PreferredExperience in high-end residential interior design or a closely related creative fieldStrong drawing and sketching abilitiesPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (boxes, samples, décor, small furniture, etc.) using proper safety techniquesAbility to navigate office, gallery, and jobsite environments (including stairs and varied site conditions)Occasional evening/weekend availability for events, installations, vendor meetings, or shootsCompensation & Benefits:Competitive salary commensurate with experienceHealth insurancePaid time off (holidays, sick leave, and accrued vacation)401(k) with employer matchDiscretionary bonusesMileage reimbursement for approved work-related travelSignificant growth opportunities as the studio and department expandFinal candidates may be required to complete a background and DMV check and provide proof of valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and authorization to work in the U.S.How to Apply:Please send the following to careers@agathus.com with the subject line: “Interior Designer – [Your Name]”We truly appreciate every application and will do our best to respond to everyone.
