Agate Recovery House is seeking dedicated, responsible, and disciplined House Managers to join our team. We are a structured 3.1 & 3.3 recovery residence serving adults navigating recovery. House Managers play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, supportive, and accountable living environment for residents as they work toward long-term stability and sobriety.
About the Role:
House Managers are the heartbeat of the home. They ensure residents follow program expectations, maintain a safe and sober environment, and feel supported while working toward their recovery goals. We are currently hiring multiple full-time House Managers, including one dedicated night-shift position. This House Manager position is a not live-in, but requires a strong consistent presence, and the ability to confidently uphold structure.
You adhere to the Recovery House guidelines and will work closely with Peer Recovery Specialists, administrative staff, and clinical team members to support daily operations and promote a healthy recovery community.
Daily Responsibilities (All Shifts)
- Uphold and enforce all Agate Recovery House rules, policies, and participation requirements
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to residents
- Conduct walkthroughs of the house to ensure safety and cleanliness
- Document resident updates, incidents, mood changes, concerns, and daily logs
- Maintain professional boundaries and model recovery-appropriate behavior
- Conduct room checks during assigned times
- Monitor resident sign-in / sign-out logs and ensure accurate tracking
- Address conflict among residents using calm, trauma-informed communication
- Assist new residents with orientation, belongings check, and intake process
- Oversee chore completion and maintain household cleanliness standards
- Ensure kitchen, common areas, bathrooms, and bedrooms remain orderly
- Respond to resident concerns and escalate issues when necessary
- Conduct random belongings checks per policy
- Ensure all medications are stored, documented, and handled according to program guidelines
- Communicate resident needs or concerns to administrative and clinical staff
- Prepare the house for weekly meetings, visits, inspections, and events.
- Participate in outreach and fundraising events for the Recovery House.
The night shift is essential to ensuring safety and accountability in the home. Overnight House Managers will:
- Perform regular walkthroughs every 1–2 hours to ensure resident safety
- Monitor for curfew compliance, quiet hours, and lights-out protocols
- Document any overnight incidents, including restlessness, conflict, or suspicious behavior
- Enforce no-guest and no-loitering policies
- Ensure the property remains secure (doors locked, alarms active, no unauthorized entry)
- Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies
- Keep a log of resident activity or any issues encountered during the shift
- Ensure that residents remain in their rooms during required hours
- Prepare morning updates for day staff transition
Night Shift Responsibilities
Night shift staff must be alert and awake the entire shift. Sleeping while on duty is not permitted.
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Has a minimum of 3 years experience being a house manager for a behavioral health organization.
- Mature, calm, reliable, and able to set firm but respectful boundaries.
- Is a Certified Medical Techinician (added bonus)!
- Skilled in communication, de-escalation, and conflict management.
- Comfortable enforcing structure and holding residents accountable.
- Compassionate and patient with individuals in early recovery.
- Able to document and follow protocol consistently.
- Organized and attentive to details.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable completing household tasks and walkthroughs.
- Experience with adhering to structural and safety protocols.
Experience in recovery housing, human services, peer support, or behavioral health is required. We welcome applicants with lived experience who are stable in their recovery (minimum 3 years sobriety).
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must possess an active driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform basic cleaning tasks.
- Ability to remain awake and alert during night shifts (if applicable).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain (we can assist).
- Familiarity with recovery principles.
