Position: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH GROUP FACILITATOR
Reports To: LEAD RESIDENTIAL THERAPIST
Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Group Facilitator (BSW) provides structured psychoeducational and skills-based group services in a residential mental health and substance abuse setting under supervision of a licensed clinician. This role does not provide independent therapy.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily psychoeducational and therapeutic support groups (e.g., coping skills, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, life skills, communication, mindfulness).
- Implement evidence-informed curricula (CBT-based skills, DBT-informed skills, recovery models, trauma-informed approaches).
- Maintain group structure, engagement, and safety, including managing group dynamics and behavioral issues.
- Adapt group content to meet individuals served cognitive, developmental, and cultural needs.
- Familiarize with crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate conflicts in a manner that keeps staff and individuals served safe. If unable to do so in an effective manner, must follow protocol on asking for assistance at a higher level.
- Reinforce individualized treatment plan goals through group interventions.
- Collaborate with licensed clinicians to ensure group content aligns with treatment objectives and level of care.
- Identify and report clinical concerns, behavioral changes, or risk issues to supervising clinicians immediately.
- Complete timely, accurate, and audit-ready group notes in the electronic health record (EHR) per program standards.
- Support a therapeutic milieu by modeling appropriate behaviors, boundaries, and emotional regulation.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and supervision.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary staff (clinical, medical, case management, recovery technicians).
- Accept and implement clinical supervision, feedback, and program updates.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Lead Residential Therapist.
Qualifications: BSW or related field required. Experience in behavioral health preferred. Must demonstrate professionalism, documentation skills, and ability to work in residential setting. Must be able to maintain an active Florida Driver’s License.
Education and/
or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW) or related field (psychology, human services, behavioral health). Experience in direct care, behavioral support, healthcare, or residential programs preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to facilitate structured groups and manage group dynamics.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and recovery principles.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and completely.
- Demonstrates professional boundaries, emotional regulation, and teamwork.
