Duties
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes, and reporting findings accurately in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Administer medications and assist with medication management as prescribed by healthcare professionals
- Support clients during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition planning to promote healthy eating habits
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and adherence to safety protocols
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community activities, ensuring client safety at all times
- Document client progress, incidents, and care activities thoroughly while respecting confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
- Engage in patient observation to detect changes in condition or behavior that may require additional intervention or medical attention
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism
- Knowledge of assisted living, or home health environments
- Proficiency in patient monitoring techniques including patient personal care assistance
- Familiarity with care plans development and medication administration procedures
- Strong communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- First aid and CPR certification to respond confidently in emergencies
- Experience with HIPAA compliance ensuring privacy and confidentiality of client information
- Capable of heavy lifting and manual handling required for patient transfers or mobility support
- Skilled in meal preparation and assisting clients with ADLs to promote independence and well-being
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to home & community care settings
