Our Programs:
Residential: providing 24-hour care in a loving and nurturing environment to aid pre-teens, teens, and their family in their healing process.
Day Program: Providing online schooling for grades 6-12 with onsite teachers and staff to assist our students in achieving key life milestones.
Counseling Program: With our holistic approach to healing, regular counseling services with a dedicated trauma informed provider is key to supporting our pre-teens and teen's journey.
Parent Program: When a child is in need, the family is in need. Providing services to the whole family is crucial for the success of the child's future!
Transitional Living: Unique and personalized services to assist teens in their transition to adulthood.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the House Parents, the Residential Social Emotional Learning Aide (SELA) oversees daily living needs of students in program. The SELA plays an integral role as a support team member to cultivate a safe and secure living environment that fosters the personal growth and development of students. The SELA leads and supervises students who reside on-site. SELAs model and guide appropriate student behaviors, exercise discretion and independent judgment within the program’s framework, and mentor students by continuously challenging them to make healthy decisions. SELAs enforce self-sufficiency and life readiness skills.
Essential Responsibilities
Program Support
- Serves as an educator for students’ development of life skills, social emotional learning, and Biblical values
- Provides opportunities for student exploration of independence by providing developmentally appropriate options and choices within program confines.
- Provides supportive and flexible structure from which students learn responsibility, personal accountability, and problem solving
- Implements the curriculum, including encouraging students to practice their individualized coping skills
- Practices active supervision and engages in programming alongside the students.
- Actively listens to students’ thoughts, ideas, and concerns with grace
- Provides reinforcement of positive behaviors through encouragement and praise
- Provides correction and redirection for students and follow through with grace-based accountability
- Oversees student hygiene and daily living skills
- Communicates regularly with staff on student progress and development.
- Transports residents to/from approved activities and events
- Establishes and nurtures a familial environment
- Communicates counseling needs to the student’s counselor in a timely manner
Student Safety
- Assesses facilities and practices to ensure safe living and learning environments are maintained.
- Follows policies to ensure the safety of students and staff
- Immediately reports student mental health concerns to the appropriate persons as necessary
- Provides basic first aid care
- Distribution of medications according to established protocol
- Always maintains an awareness of student whereabouts
- Ability to quickly adapt to student needs or emergencies
- Ability to interact in a calm and gracious manner when students are emotionally dysregulated
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered - Must be teachable, coachable and have a desire to continue learning.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Have a heart for teens with a history of trauma
- Ability to lead by example from a place of Biblical core values
- Demonstrate healthy self-regulation with the awareness of interpersonal boundaries
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED within 2 months of hire.
- Ability to apply professional approaches to solve problems and organize programs and projects, including, but not limited to motivating students
- Problem identification and reasoning skills. Skilled in problem solving and decision making that represents the best interest of Agape House and the students
- Skilled in managing a broad range of student services within the residential home and knowledgeable in trauma informed care
- Ability to work cooperatively, effectively and efficiently in a gracious manner with students and other staff
- Skilled in organizing and prioritizing needs of students
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact in sensitive situations in a professional manner
- Skilled in communicating effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Live-in residential experience
- Post-Secondary education in related field
- Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Able to assess and mediate individual and group conflicts with basic counseling, including but not limited to listening, reflecting and summarizing skills in a gracious manner
- Demonstrated skill in handling crises and emergency situations involving student welfare and safety
- Trauma Informed Care Education
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Frequently ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs throughout the buildings to effectively supervise residents.
- Frequently twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, reach or work above shoulder
- Ability to lift, move, position, and/or transport 30 pounds.
Compensation and Support
- Full Time RA options for full time pay at $16-18/hour or Room and Board with flat monthly rate
- Part Time SELA will receive hourly pay at $15 - $16 per hour
