Agape Child Learning Center is a warm, faith‑inspired early childhood program dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally rich environment for children. We are seeking an experienced, mission‑driven Daycare Director to lead our center with excellence, compassion, and professionalism.
Job Summary
The Daycare Director is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the center, ensuring compliance with Illinois DCFS licensing standards, supervising staff, supporting families, and maintaining high‑quality programming. The ideal candidate will also have experience with Early Head Start and Head Start programs, including familiarity with their performance standards and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
- Oversee daily operations to ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
- Maintain full compliance with Illinois DCFS licensing regulations and health/safety standards.
- Ensure program alignment with Early Head Start and Head Start performance standards.
- Develop and evaluate curriculum and age‑appropriate programming.
- Manage enrollment, tours, family onboarding, and waitlists.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation required by DCFS and Head Start partners.
- Oversee budgeting, tuition management, and financial planning.
- Coordinate staff schedules and classroom ratios.
Staff Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise teachers and support staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and professional development.
- Ensure staff are trained in Early Head Start/Head Start expectations.
- Promote a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
Family & Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with families through communication and support.
- Address parent concerns with professionalism and care.
- Support family engagement activities aligned with Head Start frameworks.
- Represent Agape Child Learning Center in the community.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure classrooms meet high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Oversee meal/snack compliance with state guidelines.
- Implement emergency preparedness and safety protocols.
- Support teachers in monitoring and addressing developmental needs.
Qualifications
Required
- Must meet Illinois DCFS Director Qualifications, including:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with required ECE coursework - OR an associate degree in ECE with required experience
- OR DCFS‑approved credentialing
- Minimum 2–3 years of early childhood experience, including supervisory or administrative roles.
- Experience with Early Head Start and/or Head Start programs.
- Strong knowledge of DCFS licensing standards.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with staff, children, and families.
Preferred
- Experience directing or managing a licensed childcare center.
- Experience in a childcare environment.
- Familiarity with childcare billing systems and administrative software.
