Florida Ag Research, part of a nationwide network of crop research centers, is seeking a Plant Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a leadership role with direct impact on agricultural innovation, working across field, greenhouse, and laboratory environments to develop solutions for crop protection and sustainable farming.
What You’ll Do
As a Plant Pathologist, you’ll:
- Lead field, greenhouse, and lab trials to evaluate new crop protection products
- Design and oversee experiments involving fungi, bacteria, and plant viruses
- Coordinate with research staff, technicians, and farming crews to keep trials on track
- Review trial progress, analyze results, and prepare accurate, sponsor-ready reports
- Maintain high standards of scientific rigor, data transparency, and facility readiness
- Supervise pathology technicians and biologists in day-to-day lab and field operations
- Collaborate with entomologists, agronomists, and research teams in Florida, California, and Michigan
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Crop Protection, Biology, or a related science
- At least 5 years of agricultural research experience
- Strong background in plant disease identification and management (vegetable and fruit crops)
- Proven expertise in designing and reporting research trials
- Experience with pesticide efficacy and soil pest biology studies
- Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel up to 20–50% of the time (including temporary relocation to other company sites for up to 6 months per year)
- Must have authorization to work in the United States, without employer visa sponsorship.
Nice to Have
- Experience isolating and maintaining fungal and bacterial cultures
- Knowledge of culture media selection and long-term storage methods
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat and humidity for an extended period of time.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

Pay: $65,000-$85,000 Depending on Experience
