Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing all functional areas of a poultry processing plant. Responsibilities include the efficient operation of three production shifts, as well as oversight of maintenance, safety, shipping, receiving, sanitation, scheduling, quality, and process improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Motivate and guide managers to develop programs that enhance employee skill levels and performance.
- Resolve issues related to the quality of incoming and outgoing goods.
- Review cost and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Compile and present monthly expense and efficiency reports.
- Promote and communicate the Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophy to employees.
- Obtain approval for and execute capital improvement projects for the plant.
- Facilitate Talent Mapping and Succession Planning programs.
- Support and reinforce employee Retention Programs.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, food quality, and legal requirements.
- Initiate discussions and implement improvements across all phases of production.
- Assist in identifying, evaluating, and correcting operational issues.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent experience.
- Broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field typically acquired through four years of college is expected.
Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience required.
- Experience in the food processing industry is preferred.
Computer Skills
- General proficiency with computer applications used in production plant operations, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Working knowledge of SAP systems is preferred.
Communication Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Travel
- Travel required: approximately 6-11 trips per year.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing multiple groups of personnel performing diverse tasks across more than one department.
