Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources endorsement (Grades 6-12)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Agricultural Science
- Ability to develop and implement engaging, hands-on lesson plans
- Experience supervising student leadership organizations such as FFA
- Knowledge of LDE, CDE, and SDE competitive events
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to coordinate and maintain FFA membership across both middle school campuses
- Ability to collaborate effectively with high school Agriculture Science teachers
- Proficiency in technology integration for instruction and recordkeeping
Experience:
- Student teaching or experience in agricultural education preferred
- Experience with FFA advisement preferred
Instructional Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEKS for Agricultural Science
- Integrate current agricultural industry trends and emerging technologies into instruction
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess student performance and provide timely feedback to support growth
FFA & Student Leadership:
- Serve as advisor to the middle school FFA chapters at both campuses
- Supervise and mentor students in FFA activities, including LDE, CDE, and SDE competitions
- Guide students in the development and completion of Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs)
- Assist students with FFA record books, award applications, degrees, and proficiency awards
- Coordinate FFA events, meetings, and activities in collaboration with high school agriculture staff
Program Coordination:
- Maintain and grow middle school FFA membership
- Collaborate with high school Agriculture Science teachers for curriculum alignment, leadership development, FFA activities, and program continuity
- Communicate regularly with parents, community members, and industry partners to promote program success
