Accounting Manager / Office Manager

Ag Enterprise Supply, Inc.
Cheney, WA Full Time
POSTED ON 10/15/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/11/2027

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Ag Enterprise Supply, Inc. is an established agricultural products and services company serving farmers and growers throughout the region. Located near Cheney, Washington, approximately 20 miles west of Spokane, the company provides fertilizers, crop-protection products, agronomy services, agricultural equipment manufacturing, and an extensive parts department.

Our team works closely with agricultural producers to provide practical solutions, responsive service, and dependable products that support successful farming operations.

Ag Enterprise Supply is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager / Office Manager to lead the day-to-day accounting and administrative functions at our Cheney, Washington location.

This is an accounting leadership position with office-management responsibilities, not a traditional administrative Office Manager role.

The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, payroll coordination, and office administration while directly supervising the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Clerks.

This role will work closely with company leadership and our fractional CFO and will progressively assume greater responsibility for the monthly close, balance-sheet reconciliations, financial statement review, internal controls, staff development, and accounting process improvement.

We are looking for someone who does more than make the numbers balance. The right person will recognize when something does not make sense, investigate discrepancies to their root cause, understand how transactions flow through the financial statements, and communicate relevant financial information clearly to management.

This position also serves as a primary point of contact for outside payroll, benefits, human resources, insurance, banking, information technology, and accounting providers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and progressively take ownership of month-end and year-end accounting close activities.
  • Prepare and review general-ledger reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and supporting schedules.
  • Perform and review balance-sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual or unresolved balances.
  • Review financial statements for accuracy, reasonableness, trends, and unusual activity before presentation to management.
  • Research accounting discrepancies and determine root causes rather than relying on plug or balancing entries.
  • Supervise, train, support, and cross-train the Accounts Payable Clerk and Accounts Receivable Clerk.
  • Review A/P and A/R activity, including vendor invoices and payments, customer billing, cash receipts, credits, aging, and account adjustments.
  • Coordinate payroll processing, employee deductions, benefits administration, payroll liabilities, and related reconciliations.
  • Support employee onboarding, personnel changes, leave administration, employee separations, and routine HR administration.
  • Maintain and improve accounting procedures, documentation, internal controls, and backup coverage for key processes.
  • Coordinate daily office operations, recurring administrative deadlines, and staff workflow priorities.
  • Assist management with cash-flow information, A/R aging, inventory-related reporting, margin analysis, financial trends, and other decision-support information.
  • Serve as a liaison with outside payroll, benefits, HR, insurance, banking, IT, and accounting providers.
  • Assist with accounting-system improvements and future ERP/accounting-system transition planning.
  • Support company leadership with special projects and evolving business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end close, journal entries, general-ledger accounting, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate accounting discrepancies and resolve underlying causes.
  • Experience supervising, training, or reviewing the work of accounting or administrative staff.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with accounting data and reporting.
  • Experience developing or improving accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial and employee information.
  • Willingness to remain hands-on while also providing leadership and review.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP or other ERP experience preferred.
  • Experience in agriculture, distribution, manufacturing, construction, or another inventory-based business preferred.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, job costing, or multi-entity accounting is a plus.
  • Experience assisting with accounting-system implementation or conversion is a plus.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and substantial hands-on accounting experience will be considered.

THE PERSON WHO WILL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Notice when something does not look right and want to understand why.
  • Are comfortable saying, “I need to research that before I give you an answer.”
  • Enjoy both detailed accounting work and the broader business picture.
  • Can coach and develop employees without micromanaging them.
  • Value documentation, cross-training, and reliable backup coverage.
  • Can shift priorities when payroll, month-end, employee questions, and operational needs compete for attention.
  • Communicate accounting information clearly to people who are not accountants.
  • Want to become a trusted, long-term resource to ownership and management.
