Job Overview
As a Solar Installer, you will work as part of a crew to safely and efficiently install solar energy systems for agricultural facilities. This role is hands-on, physically demanding, and ideal for individuals with mechanical aptitude, construction experience, farm hand experience, or prior solar installation work.
Duties
- Assemble, install, and maintain solar systems on agricultural buildings, barns, ground mounts, and other structures
- Read and interpret plans, schematics, and installation manuals to complete projects accurately
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment required for solar installations
- Perform site preparation, racking assembly, module placement, and wiring under supervision of licensed electricians
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet deadlines and quality expectations
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Represent the company professionally with farmers, agribusiness owners, and community partners
Qualifications:
Required:
- 1 year experience in farming, farm hand, construction, roofing, electrical, maintenance or related trade (solar preferred but not required)
Preferred:
For high end on pay range side, candidates must have 2 years of field work and have the following expertise:
Advanced - 2 Years of Field Experience - NABCEP - Certified (Gold Standard of Solar)
- Previous solar installation experience
- NABCEP certification or electrical apprenticeship background
- Knowledge of agricultural building structures (barns, pole barns, irrigation systems)
- Forklift or heavy equipment operation experience
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in varied weather, and perform physical labor daily
- Comfortable working at heights (ladders, scaffolding, rooftops)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
