Job Summary
We are seeking dynamic, dedicated After-School Counselors to work with students in grades K–8. Counselors will facilitate programming, model positive behavior, and serve as mentors, ensuring a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment. Responsibilities
- Provide mentorship and guidance to youth, helping them navigate challenges and develop essential life skills.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to maintain a productive learning environment.
- Assist with tutoring and educational activities tailored to individual student needs.
- Foster positive relationships with students through active listening and supportive communication.
- Engage students in various activities including sports, theater, or arts to promote teamwork and creativity.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to parents or guardians as necessary.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to create inclusive programs for children with special needs or those requiring additional support.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by adhering to first aid protocols when necessary.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in various settings such as daycare, camp, or tutoring environments.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and behavior management strategies.
- Background in early childhood education or special education is desirable.
- Skills in teaching, STEM, sports coaching, or theater are considered a plus.
- Certification in first aid is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is required.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with children and their families.
- A passion for mentoring youth and contributing positively to their growth and development.
