Job Title: Instrumental Music Instructor

Location: Multiple school sites in Santa Maria (travel required)

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour, DOE

About the Role

We are seeking passionate and reliable music instructors to teach instrumental music (percussion, ukulele, keyboard etc. ) to elementary, middle, and high school students during school hours. This is a seasonal, W-2 position offering a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in diverse school communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging, age-appropriate music classes for K-12 students
  • Design customized lesson plans based on school needs and student levels
  • Foster a creative, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Coordinate and direct end-of-term student showcases
  • Travel to multiple school sites as assigned

Level of Education, Experience, and Skill Set

  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience (classroom preferred; private instruction acceptable)
  • Proficiency in teaching percussion, ukulele, guitar, and/or keyboard
  • Ability to travel to assigned school sites
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Must successfully pass a Livescan background check and TB test prior to start
  • Professionalism and flexibility working in diverse school requirements.

Additional Information

  • Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel between school sites

Physical Demands

The Instrumental Music Instructor is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, twist, lean, move from one location to another, use their hands and fingers to handle or feel, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision. Ability to operate musical instruments, a computer keyboard, and lift files and reports is required. Exposure to glare from a computer. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to lift 25lbs. and travel via automobile.

Work Environment

The work environment will usually be in a school environment, with possible shared workspace. The noise level is usually moderate to noisy. When traveling, the environment may change dependent upon the site visiting.
