About Us
The After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) provides engaging, hands-on learning experiences for elementary students in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. Our Language Program offers Spanish and Mandarin instruction that helps children grow academically, socially, and culturally.
We are looking for a Language Program Coordinator to oversee our Language Program at McKinley Elementary. This role supports our instructors, engages with families, manages curriculum and scheduling, and ensures our program runs smoothly.
Position Summary
The Language Program Coordinator reports to the Program Director and McKinley Site Coordinator. You’ll manage Spanish and Mandarin classes, support teachers, coordinate with community partners, and communicate with families. This is a full-time leadership position with a mix of administrative, instructional, and program management duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of ASEP’s Language Program (Spanish & Mandarin).
- Supervise and support language instructors, including providing feedback and evaluations.
- Coordinate schedules with enrichment teachers and community partners.
- Develop and share monthly curriculum plans in collaboration with program leadership.
- Meet regularly with instructors to review curriculum success and address challenges.
- Assist with classroom management using ASEP’s Restorative Justice approach.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress, incidents, and program updates.
- Manage enrollment, student placement, and class rosters.
- Plan and coordinate field trips, events, and the end-of-year Language Showcase.
- Create and send bi-weekly newsletters highlighting program activities.
- Support administrative office duties as needed.
- Substitute teach in Spanish classes when necessary.
- Manage the program budget for events and activities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field and 1 year of experience as a Language Program Coordinator/Manager
- OR 48 college units and 2 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish
- At least 18 years old with DOJ fingerprint clearance
- CPR & First Aid certification (Child & Infant)
Preferred:
- Coursework in Early Childhood Education, Recreation, or Elementary Education
- Experience working with school-age children
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Work Schedule
- Full-time position
- Includes a 30-minute paid lunch break
- Schedule may vary during August professional development weeks and summer camp
