African Services Committee (“ASC”) is a New York City-based community service organization founded in 1981 by a refugee from Ethiopia, with the mission of addressing the needs of newcomers affected by war, persecution, poverty, and global health inequalities. Our services currently include civil and immigration legal services, case management, housing assistance, English classes, HIV, STD, TB, viral hepatitis, and other disease screening and linkage to care, food pantry, community outreach, and HIV and immigration reform advocacy.
The responsibilities of the Quality Management Specialist within the New York State AIDS Institute Ryan White HIV/AIDS Supportive Services Initiative are to ensure that services and processes meet AI established standards. Most of our clients are African or Caribbean immigrants. The Quality Management Specialist will contribute to a dynamic, effective team, which aims to meet comprehensive and supportive service needs of immigrants living with HIV/ AIDS. The goal of the Ryan White Supportive Services case management and peer navigation initiative is to provide supportive services to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) who are either unengaged or sporadically engaged in HIV care and treatment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Within the Ryan White Supportive Services Initiative, the Quality Management Specialist works collaboratively with the Director of Social Services, Program Coordinator, Case Manager, and Peer Navigator.
- Oversee implementation of quality assurance procedures.
- Conduct audits to verify compliance with standards and identify issues.
- Analyze data and reports to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Report to management on results of quality audits.
- Evaluate outcomes of quality audits and propose corrective measures.
- Provide training and guidance on quality improvement matters to staff.
- Work collaboratively with staff and AI to resolve quality problems.
- Attend supervision meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance or related field.
- Minimum two years post-graduation work experience.
- In-depth knowledge of quality management procedures.
- Outstanding problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, spoken and written.
- Basic computer skills a must.
- Familiarity with AIRS database a plus.
Initially full-time in person at the office, evaluated for a transition to hybrid once well established.
