Afognak Native Corporation has an opportunity for a Server Systems Administrator at our coporate office in Huntsville, AL.
The Server Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Microsoft server environments with a strong focus on backup and recovery, disaster recovery, Windows updates, and application updates.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience administering Microsoft servers and core applications in an enterprise setting, with specific expertise in Veeam Backup and Replication, Veeam Orchestrator and experience VMware, MECM, Recast Right Click Tools, Recast Application Manager, Microsoft Active Directory, and Azure Active Directory.
The role requires excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting in a production environment using these tools and platforms.
- Backup and Recovery: Oversee and manage enterprise-wide backup processes for file servers and networked workstations using Veeam Backup and Replication, ensuring data integrity and availability. Develop, test, and maintain robust backup strategies to minimize data loss risks.
- Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and test disaster recovery plans using Veeam Orchestrator to ensure business continuity in the event of system failures or emergencies. Coordinate recovery efforts and maintain documentation for disaster recovery procedures.
- Windows and Application Updates: Manage and deploy Windows operating system updates and application patches across servers and endpoints using MECM, Recast Right Click Tools, and Recast Application Manager. Ensure timely and secure updates to maintain system performance and compliance.
- System Administration: Take full responsibility for assigned applications and systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability in VMware and Microsoft server environments. Administer Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory for user and resource management. Diagnose and resolve server and network issues, collaborating with vendors as needed.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security policies in alignment with organizational guidelines, leveraging Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities.
- Hardware and Software Procurement: Assist in specifying hardware and software requirements, obtaining vendor quotes, and planning for new or replacement equipment purchases.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. or
- Equivalent practical experience or relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional) can substitute for formal education.
- 3–8 years in systems or server administration, with at least 3–5 years focused on Microsoft environments, backup solutions like Veeam, and tools such as MECM or Recast.
- Proven expertise with enterprise grade backup and replication platforms serving the purposes of backup, recovery, and automated disaster recovery orchestration
- Proven expertise with administration and support of Enterprise virtualization software.
- Proven expertise with administration and support with multi-forest Microsoft Active Directory environment and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID)
- Proven expertise with administration and support of Enterprise servers.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- Expertise with Veeam Backup and Replication and Veeam Orchestrator for enterprise backup, recovery, and automated disaster recovery orchestration.
- Advanced administration and support of VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, including vCenter, host management, and virtual machine lifecycle operations.
- Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Recast Right Click Tools, and Recast Application Manager for OS deployment, patching, software distribution, and endpoint management.
- Direct hands-on experience administering a multi-forest Microsoft Active Directory environment and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) in an enterprise setting.
- Strong background in managing enterprise Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022,2025), including installation, updates, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Industry-recognized certifications (preferred, not required):
- Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV)
- (Legacy certifications like MCSE or A may be considered but are not prioritized)
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
